Celebrations
Fortunately this school is busy with all its meaningful functions. It might be the reason how and why Sharmila Goddess maintains its reputation. Meanwhile there is no deficit for celebration each year.
Independence Day, Republic Day, Gandhi Jayanthi, Kamarajar’s Birth Anniversary Kalvi Thirunal are the regular celebrations with due respect and grand manner. National Flag is hoisted every time by respectful celebrities.
Rest of the yearly social celebrations are Ramzan, Deepavali and Christmas. A good number of student participants especially from Junior sections used to join voluntarily to perform sweet and dazzling programs. The fact is these programs are designed, decided and staged by those students themselves without the intervention of Staff and thus these celebrations will be surprising and funny to look at. These celebrations would be very colorful with the children’s dances and songs yet they would be little spiritual.
Birth day celebration goes on for each child along with Assembly activities. It is an uncompromising gala celebration with the exchange of greetings among 1250 heads inside the premises every day almost. The celebrity is given the years greeting card which would carry the latest photo.
Pongal is a unique festival every year. Pongal square is formed standard wise with festoons adorned. The entire campus would look like a mini village on this day. Formal Pongal is brimmed but with milk and voiced by students and babies as Pongalo Pongal! Such a curious Pongal with a competition to brim out first is really a thrill for each team. The campus would be filled by joy, cheer, Kummy, folk dance, folk songs and sweet pongal in each hand. This festival is remain unforgettable by every member of this school.
Teachers’ Day is also one of the grand celebrations. The faculty members and Non-Teaching staff are greeted by hundreds of impressive greeting cards, bouquet. The teachers could watch real cheer and respect on the faces of students on that day. Such a crowded but lined greeting by students with their own words on greeting boards and pretty flowers in tender fingers cannot be seen any where except Sharmila Goddess. Similarly, students used to sing praising teachers with their own lyrics. This forwardness of children would give true enthusiasm for Teaching fraternity. You may not believe that the greeting boards, cards, bouquets would occupy more than 500 square feet to be displayed altogether. Number of alumni members would also greet the faculty over telephones and mails. WE ARE LOYAL TO OUR STUDENTS.
Principal’s Birth Day: Although the Principal is an individual, students would make him a core person on his birth day. The same gala with flying colours like Teachers’ Day would be celebrated. The love and care shown by children on that day might be the only reason for the tireless work of him. Lot of thanks is given by him to his Children. The campus would look like a home where the father’s birth day is celebrated for the whole day.
Annual Awards Day: No doubt that this is a perfectly organized celebration of the school. All the credit would go to the Faculty, Bharatham department and the participants. There is a big crowd in the town beyond the parents to watch the wonderful programs of the participants. All the merit holders from Students’ side and Teachers’ side are rewarded on this day. It is a tradition of this school to begin the celebration with a Nathaswaram concert of Kalaimamani Shri. TS. Murali and his son who is the brought up of this school Elam Isai Mamani Shri. Uma Sankar. Thenceforth, the Mangala Isai the Chief guest used to present away more than 500 number of academic awards, Talent Search Awards and !00% Attendance Awards. The large gathering of parents and patrons would be rejoiced by the matchless and thrilling variety programs. The programme of Children for about an hour would be such an admired theatre for which the school used to request the people who witness the programs to bless the participants to stay out of evil eyes. Hats off! to those thrillers.
Sports Day: Sports is a back bone for the school children. Every student involves in sports activities. Worthy prizes and certificates are given for the winners of sports and games in various events then and there. Yet, a sperate final selection would be done for the annual reward. As the school wants to train every one to the new games or the games of the age including new children, this school used to hold Sports day at the end of the year. As time factors Sports day is celebrated along with the Annual Awards Day in recent years. Yet, separate, grand and worthy rewards are given. More than 250 individuals of different categories would be rewarded on the dais.
It is unbelievable that the children of this school are so innocents to celebrate even the birth days of the Generator, RO machine which were brought for them when the school could not make up money for them. Such a thankfulness of students expressed by different ways in different years are admitted by school with polite reciprocal.
Vidyarambam: Vidyarambam is done twice a year. One at the beginning of each academic year to admit the first batch of LKG babies. Another one on Vijayadasamy Day to fill the vacancy in LKG class if any. This New admission day would look so spiritual. A large gathering of Grand parents, parent couples and Babies would make half of the day filled with divinity by their Poojas, worship, songs, babies’ first time writing on Raw rice. The blessings of the Priest, Principal, Grand Parents and parents over the babies is the highlight of the celebration. This day will remain be in the greenest memories of the parents of the babies.
